The world is on fire following the spree of cyberattacks that have skyrocketed in a short span of time. Instances of attacks on organizations have rattled the cybersecurity scenario, prompting researchers and organizations to up the ante against malpractices and develop products and strategies to combat them.   1. Japanese carmaker Honda faced a cyber attack following which its employees lost access to their work laptops and the company suspended global production. A virus infiltrated the company’s internal servers in Tokyo, disrupting work email and other systems at its plants around the world, halting its car plants in Ohio and Turkey, and its two motorcycle factories in India and Brazil.   2. Internal documents of defence public sector undertaking BEML have been leaked on marketplaces in the dark web. It is suspected that a hacktivist or a Pakistan-based threat actor called ‘R3dr0x’ has targeted the website and leaked sensitive data files along with email accounts and passwords of seven employees.  (read more…)
  3. The Australian beverages giant Lion, behind milk brands Dairy Farmers and Pura and XXXX Gold beer was hit by a major cyber attack that disrupted manufacturing and knocked out its internal IT systems.  (read more…)
  4. A group of hackers executed a successful attack on shipbuilder Fincantieri SpA’s Norwegian unit. Servers at the Norwegian unit, Vard Group AS, were infected with a ransomware, and the company took in place all the actions needed to solve the issue. (read more…)
  5. The internet hacking group Anonymous claimed responsibility for an attack against Atlanta police Sunday, saying they had taken the department’s website offline. The announcement came in the form of a tweet from an account branded “Anonymous USA”. (read more…)

  5. Infosys Ltd is gearing up to address the rising customer concerns around cyber security, heightened due to the impact of coronavirus. It is offering managed security services to clients across the globe from its seven cyber defence centres, referred to as CDCs.
