Her journey, expertise, and leadership have not only strengthened the industry but also paved the way for future cybersecurity professionals.

We are honored to have her in our CyberFrat Gold Community, and we couldn’t be prouder to feature her story in this special edition of CyberFrat Spotlight!

1. Dr. Rakhi, cybersecurity is a dynamic and ever-changing field. What inspired you to pursue a career in this domain?

My journey into cybersecurity wasn’t a planned one—it was a natural evolution of my interest in technology and problem-solving. I started in Information Technology, but as I worked in different roles, I realized how crucial security is in today’s digital world. My initial exposure to digital forensics and ethical hacking sparked a passion for cybersecurity, and I knew this was the field where I could make a real impact.

2. You have had an incredible career spanning over two decades. What were some of the key milestones that shaped your journey?

One of the biggest turning points was earning certifications in Digital Forensics, Ethical Hacking, and Information Security. These credentials deepened my understanding and opened up new opportunities. Moving into security audits and compliance assessments helped me see cybersecurity from a broader perspective—beyond just threats and attacks, but as a business enabler. Today, as a Senior Assessor and Trainer at ISOQAR India Private Limited, I play a critical role in ensuring organizations adhere to security best practices.

3. Leadership plays a crucial role in cybersecurity. How do you define leadership, and what is your approach to leading teams?

For me, leadership is about fostering an environment where people feel encouraged to innovate, take risks, and grow. I believe in an open, collaborative approach—where every team member has the freedom to explore ideas without fear of failure. In cybersecurity, we face new challenges daily, and having a team that is motivated and adaptable is essential. I always focus on continuous learning, open discussions, and knowledge-sharing, ensuring that my team stays ahead of industry changes.

4. Cybersecurity is evolving rapidly. What trends do you think will shape the future of this field?

Automation and AI-driven cybersecurity will play a huge role in detecting and responding to threats. With big data, cloud computing, and machine learning, we will see systems that not only detect risks but also make real-time security decisions. However, I strongly believe that the human element will remain crucial—cybersecurity is not just about technology but also about understanding business risks, interpreting threats, and making strategic decisions.

5. Attracting and retaining skilled professionals is one of the biggest challenges in cybersecurity. How do you think we can address this gap?

We need to rethink hiring. Instead of only looking at traditional qualifications, organizations should focus on skills, problem-solving ability, and a willingness to learn. Many great cybersecurity professionals come from non-traditional backgrounds, and providing strong mentorship and hands-on training can help bring in fresh talent.

6. You have been a strong advocate for community engagement in cybersecurity. How has being part of the cybersecurity community influenced your journey?

The cybersecurity community is one of its greatest strengths. It’s a field where knowledge-sharing and collaboration are essential. I’ve learned so much from interacting with other professionals, participating in events, and mentoring aspiring cybersecurity specialists. The sense of support, shared learning, and mutual growth is what makes this industry unique.

7. For aspiring cybersecurity professionals, what advice would you give?

Stay curious – Cybersecurity is an ever-evolving field; always keep learning.
Get hands-on experience – Certifications are great, but practical skills matter more.
Find a mentor – Learning from experienced professionals can give you valuable insights.
Don’t fear challenges – The field is complex, but perseverance and problem-solving will set you apart.

8. Finally, where do you see yourself in the next five years?

I aim to take on more leadership roles, drive innovation, and continue making meaningful contributions to the field. Cybersecurity is my passion, and I want to keep mentoring, training, and shaping the future of this industry.
